The change of workplace is one of the most stressful moments in our life. According to statistics, about one million people changes their work on a yearly basis in Poland, while on a global scale – several hundred million. Such a change often involves tension, sleepless nights and racing thoughts. The unknowns about the new work environment, new colleagues or a new city might be overwhelming.
The COVID-19 pandemic started in 2019 and drastically changed the labor market. Many industries had to adjust to the new conditions and remote work became a new standard. For many employees, it was a chance for flexibility and better time management. However, others needed to get used to the completely new working conditions. Remote work forced employees to implement new technologies and tools which then influenced communication and team management.
A new job involves not only new duties but also a new organizational culture, new procedures and new people. The first several days are crucial – it is when we learn about the entire work specificity and assimilate with the new place. In that period, it is important to ensure support of a so-called “buddy”, that is a person who will conduct the on-boarding and training process.
A new working environment also means new tools and technologies that one needs to familiarize with. For example, in companies that used advanced document management systems, such as Webcon, new workers must complete intensive training in order to handle those tools efficiently.
At MDDP Outsourcing, we make every effort to make the on-boarding of new employees as effective and comfortable as possible. Our DPT (Data Processing Team) handles inputting accounting records into the system. In order to let a new employee quickly and effectively work by themselves, we have elaborated a detailed on-boarding process.
The on-boarding starts with welcoming the new person by the HR. At this point, the employee learns about the company’s mission and vision, as well as about the available benefits. Next, he or she is familiarized with the team and undergoes training in the Webcon system – the key element of our everyday work. Every new employee gets a “buddy” who will support them during the first weeks of their work, answer their questions and help in more difficult cases. We start the document processing with easier tasks and then gradually move on to more complicated ones.
The training of new people can sometimes be pretty difficult. Sometimes, the DPT department gets several new employees at the same time, which requires involving more than one person to conduct the training. The people conducting the training must be committed to share their knowledge. All in all, we play in one team. That is why we want everyone to feel comfortable with everyday work.
Each new employee is different. That is why our training program is flexible and adjusted to individual needs. We believe that proper support and preparation brings benefits both to the workers as well as the company as such.
Most new employees for the DPT are from Generation Z. They are people who have just started their career, often are still students. At MDDP Outsourcing, we ensure that young workers feel as a part of the team and be satisfied with their job.
We care for young employees by offering them flexible working hours and a possibility to work remotely, providing them with a chance for better time management and balance between professional and private life. We rely on advanced tools and technologies that are attractive to young workers and facilitate everyday work. We ensure regular training and possibilities of professional development, so that our workers can continuously raise their qualifications. We promote the culture of open feedback where everyone can express their opinion and have influence on the processes at the company. We organize team projects and initiatives that favor team-building and cooperation.
A new workplace can be a great challenge but may also serve as an opportunity for development. At MDDP Outsourcing, we are aware of the importance of on-boarding and try to make that process as effective and comfortable as possible. Thanks to a well-planned on-boarding process, new employees may quickly and effectively start working on their own while the company gets valuable members of the team.
